The Meghalaya Unboxed – ODOP Showcase Programme was inaugurated today at Ward’s Lake, Shillong, marking the beginning of the two-day event on the 5th and 6th of November 2025. Shri Timothy D. Shira, Hon’ble Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Government of Meghalaya, inaugurated the event with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by a walkthrough of the ODOP stalls and a photo gallery featuring ODOP products.
The occasion was held in the presence of Shri R. Nainamalai, IFS, Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare; Smti. Batrity M. Umlong, Director of Agriculture; Shri Shanbha Rani, Director of Horticulture; Shri Bibhash Ch. Hajong, Director of Agriculture (R&T); Shri. M. Defenderson Shadap, Officer on Special Duty, Directorate of Food Processing; Smti. Agreesia Syndor, Assistant Director of Horticulture (FP), Shillong; and Smti. Karen D. A. Momin, Assistant Director of Horticulture (FP), Dainadubi, along with officials from various departments.
The One District One Product (ODOP) initiative is a Government of India programme led by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
Shri Timothy D. Shira and Shri R. Nainamalai, IFS, spoke on the ODOPs of Meghalaya, highlighting the importance of the initiative in promoting local enterprises, supporting rural livelihoods, and encouraging value addition to strengthen the state’s agricultural and food processing sectors. The showcase features local brands and entrepreneurs displaying their unique products, while evening live music performances add to the festive atmosphere and provide a platform for entrepreneurs to engage with visitors.
