STATE PLAN SCHEMES

Directorate of Food Processing Scheme

List of schemes proposed by the Directorate of Food Processing as follows:

a) Provision for financial assistance to the entrepreneur for purchase of packaging materials with 50% subsidy.
b) Providing for financial assistance for purchase of machinery and equipments related to food processing in fruits, vegetables and spices etc with atleast 25% contribution from the farmers.
c) Trainings, Workshop, Seminars providing platform to entrepreneurs for marketing through-Expo, Trade fair, Exposure trips.

CENTRAL SCHEMES

Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana

Government of India (GOI) has approved a new Central Sector Scheme – Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana (Scheme for Agro-Marine Processing and Development of Agro-Processing Clusters) with an allocation of Rs. 6,000 crore for the period 2016-20 coterminous with the 14th Finance Commission cycle. The scheme will be implemented by Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI). The following schemes will be implemented under PM Kisan SAMPADA Yojana:

PM Formalisation of Micro food processing Enterprises Scheme (PM FME Scheme)

Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI), in partnership with the State/ UT Governments, has launched an all India Centrally Sponsored PM Formalisation of Micro food processing Enterprises Scheme (PM FME Scheme) for providing financial, technical and business support for upgradation of existing micro food processing enterprises.. The following schemes will be implemented under PM FME Scheme:

Under Rashtriya Krishi Vikash Yojana-Remunerative Approaches for Agriculture and Allied Sector Rejuvenation (RKVY- RAFTAAR) (Approved Scheme given only as the financial assistance for procuring machines)

  • Ginger powder processing Unit
  • Pineapple pulp processing Unit in PVC drum
  • Roasted and spiced cashew processing unit

OTHER SCHEMES

Some of the components of “Mission Jackfruit” is being funded under article 275(1) of Constitution of India

  1. Establishment of Techno Incubation Centre (TIC)
  2. Stand-Up fund for Small Medium Enterprise (SME)
  3. Stand-Up fund for Nano-Enterprise for Jackfruit processing Unit

HMNEH- MIDHHMNEH- MIDH

HMNEH is a part of Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) scheme, being implemented for overall development of Horticulture in NE and Himalayan States. The mission covers all North East states including Sikkim, the Himalayan states of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir. This Mission addresses entire spectrum of Horticulture from production to consumption through backward and forward linkages. For more details and guidelines log in to https://midh.gov.in/.

  • Cold Storage (Construction, Expansion and Modernisation),
  • Technology induction and modernisation of cold-chain,
  • Refrigerated Transport vehicles
  • Primary / Mobile/ Minimal processing unit
  • Ripening chamber
  • Evaporative / low energy cool chamber (8 MT)
  • Preservation unit (low cost)
  • Low cost onion storage structure (25 MT)
  • Pusa Zero energy cool chamber (100 kg)
  • Integrated Cold Chain supply System

To ensure overall industrial development in the state and a synergistic working between the state and investors, the department of Commerce and Industries plays an important role to attract investments. One such move is the Meghalaya Industrial & Investment Promotion Policy which lists out Agro & Horticulture Processing Unit, Processing of Plantation Crops, Spices Oleoresin and other Essential Oils Units, Animal Husbandry and Meat Processing Industries as potential areas that are related to food processing.
