Street Vendors' Exposure Visit

On May 16, 2024, an extensive awareness program on basic food processing, packaging, labelling, and food safety was conducted for street vendors at the Fruit Preservation Centre in Shillong. The vendors were also taken for an exposure visit to the factory so as to provide them with the practical understanding of how food processing unit works.

The event aimed to equip vendors with essential knowledge and skills to enhance the quality and safety of their food products. The importance of proper packaging was also emphasized, highlighting how it protects food from spoilage and extends shelf life. Additionally, the vendors learned about the critical aspects of food labelling, such as accurately listing ingredients, nutritional information, and expiry dates, which are vital for consumer safety and compliance with regulations. The session on food safety was also covered with an aim to ensure the safety and quality of the food they sell to the public.
