Invest India, in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and Farmer's Welfare, Government of Meghalaya, hosted the 'ODOP Sampark' event at Hotel Pinewood today. This conference aims to showcase and uplift local products, contributing to Meghalaya's economic growth and cultural vibrancy. The ODOP Sampark serves as a dynamic platform to spotlight the diverse offerings of Meghalaya's districts, with the recent Bronze award in the States Category at the National ODOP Awards further enhancing the state's recognition.

Dignitaries present included Dr. Mazel Ampareen Lyngdoh, Hon'ble Minister of Agriculture, Meghalaya, emphasizing Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiatives. Dr. Preet Deep Singh from Invest India highlighted India's dominance in turmeric, showcasing Meghalaya's Lakadong Turmeric as a global success story. Shri. Maqbool Lyngdoh Suiam, MAS, ODOP- State Nodal Officer, underscored the media's role in driving the ODOP initiative. Smt Dipangna Singhi from Invest India, along with other dignitaries from the Department of Agriculture, Meghalaya, were also present. Farmers and agri-entrepreneurs shared success stories, crediting state initiatives like Mission Lakadong and Mission Jackfruit to standardise product quality and facilitate access to domestic and international markets.

The ODOP initiative in the state, spearheaded by the State Nodal Officer for Meghalaya, Officer On Special Duty at the Directorate of Food Processing, is delighted to receive this award in recognition of the state's remarkable efforts in promoting the ODOP Initiative.

Through mission-mode programs, distinctive brand creation, GI tagging, and marketing initiatives, Meghalaya is actively promoting its ODOPs, making them globally competitive. This award underscores the Government of Meghalaya's dedication to Aatma Nirbhar Bharat, fostering agri value chains through innovation, quality assurance, and global collaborations. The Directorate of Food Processing partnered the FMA Outreach for Underprivileged Women & Children (OUWC) between December 4 - 8 at FMA-OUWC Lumshyiap, Shillong by offering a 5-day training programme on pickle processing. Technical Associates from the Directorate offered hands-on training to women who were SHG members on all aspects of pickle processing.
